SAINT JOHN (GNB) – The provincial government is contributing $250,000 toward renovations of a building recently purchased by Key Industries in Saint John.

“Investing in education and training is crucial to the New Brunswick economy and the quality of life of our families,” said Premier Brian Gallant. “This investment will help create good construction jobs and will support Key Industries as they continue to create opportunities in Saint John for people living with an intellectual disability.”

Key Industries has provided services to people with intellectual disabilities since 1974. It offers a range of employment and community programs, including workplace essential skills, employability social skills and career development. By purchasing and renovating this building, the agency will be able to relocate and expand its programs and services.

The government’s funding is provided through the Regional Development Corporation.

“We are extremely grateful for this provincial funding. It will assist us in making the necessary renovations, ensuring that persons with a disability are afforded multiple opportunities to reach their full potential,” said Christine Evans, president and CEO of Key Industries. “Our new location will assist in the process of providing the support needed for success by providing a professional, comfortable, and safe working environment.”
