SAINT ANDREWS (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $64,000 in upgrades and renovations for the school theatre at Sir James Dunn Academy in Saint Andrews.
“Your government is listening to the needs of New Brunswickers and understands that our youth and communities are priorities,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister John Ames. “The upgrades to the theatre at Sir James Dunn Academy will make it possible to better meet the needs of local students and members of the community.”
Ames spoke on behalf of Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Bill Fraser, who is also the minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.
“We are pleased to have created this state-of-the-art facility,” said school principal David O’Leary. “It will enhance our students’ strengths and connect our community. This project would not have become a reality without the support of the Dunn Foundation, the Kiwanis Club and the Government of New Brunswick. We are fortunate to have their support.”
The $129,000 project includes new lighting, curtains, a sound system and bleacher seats.
The government’s investment is through the Regional Development Corporation. The parent school support committee will contribute $65,000.
