NEGUAC (GNB) – Construction is set to begin on a new nursing home in Neguac.

Foulem Construction of Caraquet has been awarded the tender to build the new Complexe Rendez-vous.

"It’s exciting to see construction of this facility going ahead,” said Social Development Minister Madeleine Dubé. "Before long, the residents and staff will have a new, secure facility that will enhance their quality of life in the community they call home."

The $9.6 million building will feature 30 nursing home beds. Construction is expected to begin in September 2014 and be completed by the fall of 2015. It will be located at 125 L. Allain St. in Neguac.

“Caring for our seniors is a responsibility our government takes very seriously,” said Dubé. “This replacement home will make a substantial difference for seniors living in the Neguac area.”

The nursing home is part of the provincial government's 2011-2016 Nursing Home Renovation and Replacement Plan under which 354 nursing home beds and 704 specialized care beds are being created.
