FREDERICTON (GNB) – A tentative collective agreement has been reached between the New Brunswick Association of Nursing Homes and the New Brunswick Council of Nursing Home Unions, which represents members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) at 51 of the province’s 68 nursing homes.
“I was always confident that a negotiated settlement could be reached,” said Social Development Minister Dorothy Shephard. “I thank everyone involved in the negotiating process for all of their efforts.”
The bargaining group has about 4,100 members, including licensed practical nurses, resident attendants, cooks, laundry attendants and office clerks.
The two sides have agreed to withhold details of the tentative agreement pending its ratification.
