FREDERICTON (CNB) - Stéphane Hachey will be the volunteer chef de mission of Team New Brunswick at the Canada Winter Games, which will take place in Halifax from Feb. 11 to 27, 2011, Wellness, Culture and Sport Minister Hédard Albert announced today.

"I am pleased that Stéphane Hachey has agreed to serve as Team New Brunswick's volunteer chef de mission because he is a man with a great deal of experience in the field of sports," Albert said. "He has been involved with the Jeux de l'Acadie, the Canada Games, and the Olympic Games for several years. That is why I am convinced his experience and skills will make him an excellent volunteer chef de mission."

Hachey will hold an important leadership role for New Brunswick's athletes and volunteers at the Canada Games.

"I'm honoured to be part of the team that will represent New Brunswick at the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax," said Hachey. "I hope these games will be beneficial for New Brunswick's young athletes and the many volunteers who will accompany them. That is why I enthusiastically accepted the position of chef de mission for Team New Brunswick."

Team New Brunswick includes about 300 people, including athletes, artists, coaches, managers, and mission staff.
