HALIFAX (CNB) – The New Brunswick men’s hockey team lost a close 6-5 decision to Alberta on Sunday during the second day of competitions at the Canada Winter Games in Halifax.

The curling team won and lost while the ringette group lost its second game in two days. Kevin Heppell finished 11th overall in biathlon. Andrew Evans missed the podium by a little as he took fourth place in speed skating. The wheelchair basketball team lost a close 64-57 decision to British Columbia.

Short track speed skating (St. Margaret’s Centre)
Men's 1,500 m - Evan Brideau (Keswick Ridge) 7th, Andrew Evans (Fredericton) 4th, Charles Evans (Fredericton) 10th, David Patterson (Fredericton) 23rd, and Jeffrey Retallick (Fredericton) 26th.

Women's 1,500 m - Catherine Tremblay (Saint John) 20th, Hilary Gamblin (New Maryland) 21st, Zoé LeBlanc (McKendrick) 32nd, Hannah Duguay (Hampton) 19th, and Caroline Quinn (Grand Bay-Westfield) 23rd.

3,000 m relay - women finished 2nd in their heat and qualified for the B final.

Women's 500 m - Danika Sorel (Saint Andrews) 25th, Sophie Tremblay (Saint John) 27th, Julia Loparco (Saint John) 26th, Kelly McCarthy (Fredericton) disq.

Men's 1,500 m final - Alexander Peppard (Saint Andrews) 27th (2:23;470), Nathan Pelletier (Dalhousie Junction) 24th (2:20:010), Pierre Dumouchel (Saint John) 26th (2:21:350), Klinton Doucette (Fredericton) 28th (2:29:730).

Men's 100 m – Alex Peppard 15th, Nathan Pelletier 21st, Pierre Dumouchel 23rd, Klinton Doucette 28th.
