HALIFAX (CNB) – The New Brunswick short track speed skating relay team won the bronze medal in 3,000 m relay competition Thursday at the Canada Winter Games in Halifax.

The team of Charles Evans, his brother Andrew, Evan Brideau, Devin Patterson and Jeff Retallick took third spot in a time of 4:21.438 behind Quebec (4:18.311) and Ontario (4:19.632).

“This is my second bronze medal in as many days,” said Evans following the race. “I am very happy with this, although I expected we would win the silver. A number of our skaters were tired as they had just finished the super 1,500 m race. One of our exchanges did not go as well as planned and was slow. One of the teams was faster than expected.”

In wheelchair basketball, New Brunswick took ninth spot in the final standings following the defeat to Nova Scotia. New Brunswick was ended sixth place in curling after a loss to Yukon.
