HALIFAX (CNB) – Manitoba scored five goals during man-advantage situations in women’s hockey, defeating Team New Brunswick 6-2 Sunday morning in the first day of the second week of competitions at the Canada Winter Games in Halifax.

Connor Garagan and Gabrielle Poirier scored for New Brunswick that had taken a 1-0 lead in the first period before allowing six goals, including three in the second period. The winners led 31-16 in shots on goal. Kristine Grenier led the Manitoba offensive with two goals.

Competitions in the second week begin for a number of teams on Monday including badminton, figure skating, cross country ski, men’s curling and women’s hockey. Boxers could see action Monday evening following the draw on Monday noon.
