FREDERICTON (GNB) – The members of the Team New Brunswick mission staff accompanying the athletes, coaches and managers to the 2013 Canada Summer Games were announced today by Culture, Tourism and Healthy Living Minister Trevor Holder.

The mission staff will provide administrative support to more than 400 members of Team New Brunswick before and during the national multi-sport event, to be held Aug. 2-17, 2013, in Sherbrooke, Que.

"The Canada Games offer a unique opportunity for athletes from many sport disciplines to compete in a national multi-sport event," Holder said. "The individuals selected as members of the Team New Brunswick mission staff bring an interest and vast experience in sport, with youth and as volunteers. For veteran athletes, this will be a chance to compete at the national level again, but for some participants, this will be their first games. I know the behind-the-scenes role that the mission staff plays is important and provides valuable support to the competitive endeavours of New Brunswick athletes and coaches."

The mission staff will work with Stéphane Hachey, chef de mission of Team New Brunswick, who led Team New Brunswick at the 2011 Canada Winter Games in Halifax. He has extensive sport experience, having served as a member of the Team New Brunswick mission staff at four Canada Games. He was a member of the bid selection committee that selected Sherbrooke as the host city. He is the vice-principal at École Secondaire Nepisiquit in Bathurst.
