SAINT JOHN (GNB) – As part of the renewed cultural policy for the province, Premier Brian Gallant is encouraging arts organizations and presenters to seek funding from the updated New Brunswick Touring and Presenting program.

“Our government is committed to helping New Brunswick artists and arts organizations showcase their talents through shows within the province,” said Gallant. “This program will help our organizations and artists be more competitive with their counterparts from other provinces in reaching New Brunswick audiences and will help grow our economy in all regions of the province, by supporting the industry and helping create more jobs.”

Gallant made the announcement as part of ArtsLink NB’s annual forum.

The program had previously been offered from 2009 to 2013 and was jointly funded by the provincial government and Heritage Canada. At that time, the program was only available to francophone arts groups. The updated program is now available to both anglophone and francophone arts groups. Up to $300,000 in funding will be available to non-profit organizations and artists this budget year.

“Providing strategic support programs for our artists and creators is vital to creating job opportunities in our cultural sector and to helping our artists showcase their talents and cultural stories and products to others,” Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Bill Fraser. “The wealth of talent within the province is astounding and sharing this talent is vital to our success as a creative province and also to our pride as a province.”
