FREDERICTON (GNB) – The New Brunswick Art Bank is now accepting submissions from visual artists in the province for the 2015 Acquisitions Program.

The program buys contemporary works of art by New Brunswick visual artists for display in government buildings and for exhibition in the province and elsewhere. Every two years, a peer assessment panel of artists and art professionals selects artwork based on the acquisitions budget of $40,000.

Artists who are Canadian citizens or landed immigrants who have resided in New Brunswick for 12 consecutive months prior to the application deadline and who pay personal income taxes in New Brunswick are eligible to apply for the program. Artwork must have been produced during the past two years and must be suitable for display in government buildings.

The jury will review the applications and will announce the new acquisitions in December.

The New Brunswick Art Bank is a permanent collection of more than 800 artworks. Collected since the 1960s, the art bank serves as a record of excellence in the visual arts in New Brunswick.

Application forms and more information about the Acquisitions Program are available online.

The deadline to receive submissions is Oct. 2.
