FREDERICTON (GNB) – New Brunswickers are encouraged to participate in Jersey Day, Friday, Nov. 20, and RBC Sports Day in Canada, on Saturday, Nov. 21.

Jersey Day is an opportunity to show your love and support for sport by wearing a jersey, team or club uniform to school, work or play. RBC Sports Day in Canada is a celebration of sport, from grassroots to high-performance, and an opportunity to celebrate the power of sport to build community and get Canadians moving.

In the week leading up to and including RBC Sports Day in Canada, local organizations, communities and schools across the province are encouraged to open their doors to celebrate sport at the local level.

“RBC Sports Day in Canada serves as a wonderful reminder of the impact that sport, physical activity and recreation can have on individuals,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Bill Fraser. “Our government recognizes the importance of physical activity and healthy lifestyles for New Brunswickers.”

RBC Sports Day in Canada is a joint initiative of the Royal Bank of Canada, ParticipACTION, CBC, and the True Sport Movement.

“I would also like to encourage all New Brunwickers, including our public servants to wear a jersey to work on Friday, Nov. 20,” said Fraser. “Share your love of sport and support your favorite team or club.”
