FREDERICTON (GNB) – Ten New Brunswick artists have been selected for this summer’s Fresh AIR (artist-in-residence) program, a collaboration between the provincial government and the New Brunswick Arts Board, also known as artsnb.

The following artists were selected:

  • Angela Beek (visual arts), June 23 – 27 at Mactaquac Provincial Park;
  • Carole Lulham (visual arts), June 30– July 4 at Herring Cove Provincial Park;
  • Pierre-André Doucet (literary arts), July 7 – 11 at the Hopewell Rocks;
  • Cheryl Johnson (multidisciplinary), July 14 – 18 at Fundy Trail Parkway;
  • Angie and Tracey Richard (multidisciplinary) (Collectif HAT), July 21 – 25 at Parlee Beach Provincial Park;
  • David Champagne (visual arts), July 28– Aug. 1 at Miscou Lighthouse;
  • Monelle Doiron (dance), Aug. 4 – 8 at Village Historique Acadien;
  • Audrey Arsenault (craft), Aug. 11 – 15 at Sugarloaf Provincial Park;
  • Vicky Lentz (visual arts), Aug. 18 – 22 at the New Brunswick Botanical Garden;
  • Sylvie Pilotte (visual arts), Aug. 25 – 29 at Mount Carleton Provincial Park.

“I congratulate the exceptional artists who have been selected for this summer’s Fresh AIR program,” said Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister Tammy Scott-Wallace. “Artists have overcome many challenges throughout the past year which is why we are excited to re-offer this opportunity to create and promote their work in popular destinations across our province.”

The program will run from June 23 to Aug. 29 and provides artists with a location separate from a regular studio or workplace, where they can produce work while engaging with the public. All public health guidelines related to COVID-19 will be respected.

“We are delighted that so many artists applied to the Fresh AIR program this year. It demonstrates a craving among the artistic community to renew contact with the public after a long period of enforced isolation,” said Joss Richer, executive director of artsnb. “The success of this program is due in part to the close collaboration between artsnb and the Department of Tourism, Heritage and Culture. We encourage the public to visit our beautiful parks this summer to see, hear and engage with these talented artists.”

Artists will be offered an artist fee along with complimentary accommodations at their chosen site, if applicable.
