FREDERICTON (GNB) – The next local government byelections will take place on Oct. 23.
Elections NB currently has the necessary documents to call byelections for 12 vacancies in the following nine local governments:
- Beaurivage: one councillor, Ward 2 and one councillor, Ward 6
- Grand Lake: one councillor, Ward 4
- Grand Manan: two councillors-at-large
- Hanwell: one councillor, Ward 4
- Neguac: one councillor-at-large
- Southern Victoria: one councillor, Ward 2
- Sunbury-York South: one councillor, Ward 1
- Tracy: two councillors-at-large
- Upper Miramichi: one councillor, Ward 1
The deadline for local governments to notify Elections NB of any council vacancies is Friday, Sept. 8.
The nomination period for these elections will begin on Monday, Sept. 18, when local returning offices are set to open, and ends at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29.
