Business Essentials for Immigrant Entrepreneurs

These programs were piloted in Fredericton in 2009 with the Fredericton Chamber of Commerce, and expanded to Moncton, Saint John, Bathurst and Edmundston in partnership with various economic development agencies.

The Hive/La Ruche Business Incubators

These business incubators were initially created as a next step to the other business support programs to assist immigrant entrepreneurs by offering support in developing their business plans from infancy to a successful and productive business.

  • Access to business essentials
  • Physically housed in business centres
  • Helping setting up business and reaching a point of self-sufficiency
  • Providing working space for startups with low costs
  • Sharing common office facilities
  • Peer-to-peer support activities
  • On-site administrative support
  • Business networking

 

Ignite Fredericton

A non-profit community economic development organization where free, confidential business counselling and tools are offered to help entrepreneurs start, grow, and locate their business.

  • Supporting Entrepreneurs
  • Attracting & Retaining Talent through Immigration
  • Strengthening the Economic Development Ecosystem through Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships
  • Operates the Fredericton immigrant entrepreneurship programs

 

Propel ICT

A private, non-profit, cohort-based accelerator program for early stage technology entrepreneurs to increase their chances of long-term success by providing an early opportunity to funding, mentorship, knowledge and support.  

Program Highlights:  

  • Increase the number of new ventures and improve their survival rate
  • Move start-ups from the idea/R&D phase
  • Speed commercialization
  • Integrate founders and their start-ups into the community and the business technology network
  • Build partnerships between the private sector, the public sector and academia
