FREDERICTON (CNB) – Fish and seafood from New Brunswick will be front and centre at the 2011 International Boston Seafood Show, March 20-22.

Premier David Alward and Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Michael Olscamp will join five companies in promoting New Brunswick products at the largest international seafood trade show in North America.

"This trade show continues to provide the foremost networking and business arena for the fish and seafood industry," said Alward. "Our participation helps New Brunswick companies expand markets and explore new opportunities."

New Brunswick is among the partners in the Atlantic Canada pavilion, a collaboration among the Atlantic provinces to promote the region's fish and seafood industry.

The yearly show attracts more than 16,000 buyers and sellers of seafood products from more than 90 countries.

"Participating in this show enables us to remain current with the changing global marketplace," said Olscamp. "This event also provides an excellent opportunity to showcase our world-class companies, our leadership in sustainability and our trustworthy food safety standards."

The Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries joins the five New Brunswick companies in the New Brunswick Pavilion, which spans more than 163 square metres (1,800 square feet). Participating will be Cuisine Industrielle Pro-Mer Industrial Cuisine Inc. (Caraquet), Gourmet Chef Packers Ltd. (Shediac), Partner Seafood Inc. (Shediac), True North Salmon Company Ltd. (Blacks Harbour) and VIP Seafood Inc. (Memramcook).

The show is the chief trade event for the New Brunswick seafood industry. Dozens of seafood suppliers from the province will meet with new and established buyers in preparation for the 2011 season.
