FREDERICTON (GNB) – New Brunswickers are invited to visit one of 36 farms that will be open to the public on Sunday, Sept. 15, for Open Farm Day.

“I look forward to participating in Open Farm Day each year and I am pleased to see how it has grown in popularity,” said Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries Minister Michael Olscamp. “People are increasingly interested in knowing where their food comes from and this is a great opportunity for the whole family to visit a farm or fish farm in their area. I thank local producers for opening their farms to visitors.”

The Department of Agriculture, Aquaculture and Fisheries provides funding to the Agricultural Alliance of New Brunswick to support Open Farm Day, as well as other activities throughout the year.

Earlier this year, the department teamed up with organizations and associations that represent the province's agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries industries for a Buy Local tour. The tour featured a summer student travelling in a specially-decorated van promoting the province's agriculture, aquaculture and fisheries products. Olscamp participated in the tour when his schedule allowed.
