Government of New Brunswick

Overview

The AgriStability program provides assistance when a producer’s current year program margin falls below 70% of the producer’s historical reference margin.

Eligibility

All agricultural producers can take part in the program if they have carried on the business of farming and reported farming income (loss) for income tax purposes and have met program requirements.

Description

Agricultural producers are required to pay a fee and submit their income tax and supplementary forms according to predetermined deadline dates. For New Brunswick agricultural producers, the AgriStability program is delivered by Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada in Winnipeg, Manitoba. If the administration determines that the producer's farming operation experienced a program year margin decline greater than 30% relative to their reference margin, the producer will be eligible to receive benefits. Program costs are shared between the federal and provincial governments.
