FREDERICTON (GNB) – The provincial government has issued two requests-for-proposals to operate its executive flight service.

"The first request-for-proposal is seeking a five-year contract with a service provider for executive charter flight services for the provincial government," said Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Claude Williams. "We expect to have a new safe, timely and cost-effective flight service in place in the next few months."

The service provider must meet the provincial government's requirements for safety, security, flight crew qualifications, aircraft maintenance and quality service. It will be responsible for all flight booking, scheduling, billing and flight manifests. The provincial government expects it will require about 100 flight-hours each year.

"The second request-for-proposal seeks a broker to help market and sell the current provincial government plane," Williams said.

That plane is a King Air B200, twin-engine turbine aircraft. The broker will co-ordinate the purchase and sale agreement; and work to complete the transaction, including delivering the aircraft to the buyer.

Submissions for both requests-for-proposals must be received by 1:30 p.m. on June 17. They will be evaluated by an intergovernmental committee using a two-stage process: a technical evaluation and a pricing evaluation.

The Department of Government Services will work with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure throughout the process.
