SAINT JOHN (CNB) – Energy ministers from the Atlantic provinces will meet on Tuesday, Feb. 22, in Halifax, to discuss regional collaboration. It will be their first meeting since the Council of Atlantic Premiers made a commitment in November to support the Atlantic Energy Gateway initiative.

"I look forward to finding common ground with my Atlantic counterparts," said Energy Minister Craig Leonard, who will represent New Brunswick. "We face common energy challenges and opportunities. By working together, we have the opportunity to derive mutual benefits."

The ministers will discuss opportunities with respect to regional electricity and energy efficiency co-operation as well as the need for a national energy framework. The meeting is viewed as a step in shaping a regional energy vision and collaborative work plan.
