FREDERICTON (GNB) – Benoit Laprise of Quispamsis was the first name drawn in the 2014 Crown reserve angling draw. Laprise and his party were successfully drawn for the Depot stretch on the Northwest Miramichi River.

“I congratulate every New Brunswick resident who had their name drawn to fish on one of these 20 prime stretches on the Miramichi, Restigouche and Patapedia river systems,” said Natural Resources Minister Paul Robichaud. “These regular Crown reserve stretches are some of the best waters anywhere to fly-fish for Atlantic salmon and trout.”

There were 1,170 applications received, with 602 successful parties drawn. Successful party chiefs will be notified by mail or email depending on the preference they indicated during the application process. Anglers must purchase their Crown reserve angling licences by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 25, or by midnight on April 25 if they are paying online. Crown reserve water stretches not paid for by that date will be made available to other anglers through a reservation process.
