FREDERICTON (GNB) – Anglers will be able to apply from Feb. 9 to March 6 to fish Regular Crown Reserve waters this summer.

“I am pleased that several initiatives introduced by the department in 2014 to increase angling opportunities on Crown Reserve waters will remain in effect for 2015,” said Natural Resources Minister Denis Landry. “The Crown Reserve angling system is a true asset to the province, and I encourage all resident anglers to make use of this world-class recreational fishery. Anglers contribute significantly to the conservation of New Brunswick’s fish resources through the purchase of angling licences that help support a variety of management programs.”

These initiatives, which included the introduction of an online Crown Reserve licensing system and replacement of the Regular Crown Reserve mini-draws with a first-come first-served reservation system, have resulted in greater use of Crown Reserve waters.

Other significant Regular Crown Reserve dates in 2015 include:

  • March 30 – draw results available;
  • April 24 – licence payment deadline;
  • May 11 to May 22 – booking period for unsuccessful applicants; and
  • June 1 to Sept. 15 – open booking period.

The Regular Crown Reserve angling season begins June 10 and ends Sept. 15. The Daily and Live Release Crown Reserve angling season is from June 1 to Sept. 15. Some exceptions to these dates apply depending on the specific stretch of Crown Reserve water.
