FREDERICTON (GNB) – Restrictions on forestry operations in New Brunswick are being eased.
Harvesting, forwarding, site preparation and pre-commercial thinning will now be restricted between the hours of noon and 6 p.m.
“I thank all New Brunswickers for the level of caution they have exercised during recent burn bans when our forests faced the driest conditions we have seen in decades. The cooperation of forestry workers and recreational users helped reduce the risk,” said Energy and Resources Minister Rick Doucet.
While recent rain hasn’t been enough to fully eliminate burning restrictions in the province, forestry operations are being allowed starting at 6 p.m. given the shorter daylight hours and cooler, more humid evenings.
“The Department will continue to evaluate conditions on a daily basis. I encourage all users to remain vigilant,” Doucet said.
Restrictions on forestry operations between were imposed on Aug. 3.
