FREDERICTON (GNB) – Alan Roy will be the new chief executive officer of Service New Brunswick, Premier Brian Gallant announced today.

"Alan's many years of experience providing service to New Brunswickers will serve him well in this role," said Gallant‎. “Completing the integration of the new Service New Brunswick is an important task. His knowledge of this project will be critical to its success."

The new Service New Brunswick was created in October 2015 by merging the former Service New Brunswick, the New Brunswick Internal Services Agency‎, the Department of Government Services, FacilicorpNB and most of the information technology and human resource functions of all government departments.

Roy is currently the vice-president of public services and smart government at Service New Brunswick. He previously served as a vice-president of the New Brunswick Internal Services Agency and as an assistant deputy minister at the departments of Local Government, Environment and Local Government, and Government Services. ‎He entered management in the provincial government in the 1990s when he helped lead the original transformation of services in the establishment of Service New Brunswick at that time.

Roy was selected following a competitive, merit-based process led by a private sector recruiting firm. ‎He replaces Gordon Gilman who was named deputy minister and secretary to the Treasury Board in April.
