OTTAWA (GNB) – New Brunswick was represented today at discussions of federal, provincial and territorial cabinet ministers with respect to federal funding of health care by Finance Minister Cathy Rogers and Health Minister Victor Boudreau. The following statement was issued by Rogers on behalf of the provincial government:

New Brunswick was pleased that the offer of the federal government included an additional $26 billion to federal health spending over the next 10 years, including $15 billion through the Canada Health Transfer and $11 billion for home care and mental health.

We were conditionally supportive of this offer and believed that provinces and territories could have reached a deal with Ottawa on the allocation of these moneys in a way that would benefit all Canadians.

New Brunswick will continue discussions with the federal government in an effort to secure a bilateral agreement.
