FREDERICTON (CNB) – New Brunswick’s flag will be flown at half mast on the front lawn of the legislative assembly on Sunday, Sept. 11, in memory of the victims of the terrorist attacks on that date in 2001.

The flag will fly at half mast from sunrise to sunset to mark the 10th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., as well as the crash of Flight 93 in Shanksville, Pa.

"The tragic events and tremendous loss of life 10 years ago on Sept. 11 touched all of us very deeply," Premier David Alward said. "We remember those who gave their lives on that day, and our thoughts go out to their families, friends and colleagues. We honour their memory as we work with our allies to ensure that such attacks never happen again."

The New Brunswick flag will be flown on the courtesy pole, which is located on the front lawn of the legislative assembly and is used on special occasions.
