CAMPBELLTON (GNB) – Labour, Employment and Population Growth Minister Gilles LePage was in Campbellton today to visit one of the province’s employment development offices.
“Your government understands that job creation and economic development are priorities for New Brunswickers,” said LePage. “Our employment development offices are staffed with regional individuals whose objective is to help New Brunswickers, their neighbours, create a plan that will help them find employment that fits their skills and needs.”
There are several offices around the province to help people with their employment goals. LePage previously visited offices in Miramichi and Woodstock.
LePage also visited students in the cannabis cultivation program offered at the Collège communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick’s (CCNB) Campbellton campus. The government is partnering with CCNB and Zenabis on the 20-week program, which is already underway.
“CCNB is proud to offer the cannabis cultivation program in French at our Campbellton campus. It is a first in New Brunswick,” said Suzanne Beaudoin, director of the campus. “In addition to responding to the growth of a priority sector for the provincial government, the program also helps us train a skilled workforce to meet the needs of our local producers in this emerging industry.”
In addition, LePage met with staff from the AV Cell pulp mill in Atholville and enjoyed a tour of the facility.
