SAINT-ANTOINE (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $500,000 in design work and potential site preparation toward the development of a new multifunctional centre in Saint-Antoine.
"Our investment in the design phase is an important step toward the creation of a new multifunctional centre," said Natural Resources Minister Paul Robichaud, who is also minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation. "This funding clearly demonstrates our commitment to investing in Saint-Antoine, Kent County and all regions of the province."
Funding through the Regional Development Corporation will be provided to the Village of Saint-Antoine toward design costs of the proposed centre. The building, covering 1,800 to 1,980 square metres (20,000 to 22,000 square feet), could consist of a municipal library, municipal offices, lobby and community hall.
"I am very happy and proud that the provincial government supports our project," said Saint-Antoine Mayor Roseline Maillet. "As mayor of one of the funding partners in this endeavour, I am delighted to receive such good news. This multifunctional centre will help the municipality provide services in a more efficient manner to its residents."
The proposed $4.2-million centre is to be built on a parcel of land owned by the municipality.
