SAINT-FRANÇOIS DE MADAWASKA (GNB) — The provincial government is contributing $46,500 to l’Atelier des copains Coop Ltée, a non-profit organization in Saint-François-de-Madawaska.

The funding from the Regional Development Corporation will be used to purchase a forklift.

“This financial contribution will help to replace outdated equipment used by l’Atelier des copains,” said Madawaska-les-Lacs MLA Yvon Bonenfant. “The forklift will work better and will help save money on the cost of operating the recycling centre.”

Bonenfant attended the announcement for Natural Resources Minister Paul Robichaud, who is also the minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

In addition to welcoming people with special needs, l’Atelier has become a sorting and recycling centre for different types of paper, cardboard, plastic, metal, bottles, and a variety of containers.

“We want to thank the provincial government for investing in this important project,” said Guildo Nadeau, director of the l’Atelier des copains board. “This will be much better for the health of our employees working on the sorting line, since no combustion gas is emitted by this electric forklift, and we can offer a safer work environment.”
