Saint-François-de-Madawaska (GNB) — The provincial government is contributing $47,000 to an infrastructure project of the Société culturelle de Saint-François inc. in connection with the 2014 World Acadian Congress.

“The contribution to the société culturelle is in keeping with the government’s strategy to invest in the regions to stimulate economic development,” said Madawaska-les-Lacs MLA Yvon Bonenfant. “La Promenade d’Antan infrastructure project in the Saint-François-de-Madawaska area looks promising.”

Bonenfant attended the announcement for Natural Resources Minister Paul Robichaud, who is also the minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation.

La Promenade d’Antan (a walk through time) is designed to revive the trades of bygone days in the village formerly known as Ledges, now Saint-François. Visitors will be able to discover two provincially-recognized museums, a library containing a quilt marking the 125th anniversary of the parish, a newly-designed nature park, and a circuit of 10 historic sites recognized under Canadian Heritage's Canadian Register of Historic Places.
