ROTHESAY (GNB) – The provincial government is investing $967,000 towards improvements to the Wells Recreation Centre and walking trail.

“In making this investment we continue to promote a healthy lifestyle for families and residents of Rothesay,” said Health Minister Hugh Flemming. “Investing in community priorities is an important part of our government’s plan to create jobs and make life better in New Brunswick.”

Flemming attended on behalf of Natural Resources Minister Paul Robichaud, who is also the minister responsible for the Regional Development Corporation. He was joined at the announcement by Rothesay Mayor Bill Bishop, members of Rothesay town council and Wells community partners.

The provincial government contributed $482,000 through the Regional Development Corporation towards a splash pad, dog park and ball field for the area. It also contributed $485,000 through the Regional Development Corporation towards the multi-use trail.

This investment will support the construction of a new crosswalk connecting Wells to the heart of Rothesay as well as an additional two kilometres of multi-modal commuting trail along route 111, allowing easier access to the area.
