Rogersville (GNB) – Rogersville Music Inc., an event production company based in Rogersville, will improve their event facilities thanks to provincial and federal government investments.

“Bluegrass music lovers are loyal visitors to the Rogersville Bluegrass Festival every year,” said Human Resources Minister Robert Trevors. “The improved facilities will attract even more tourists to our region for cultural, social and other activities, and by doing so, contribute to our economic growth and job creation, both top priorities for our government.”

Trevors spoke on behalf of Economic Development Minister Bruce Fitch.

The project involves building a roofed shelter that would be used during inclement weather for concert goers attending the annual festival. It also involves adding a washroom facility with showers, which includes plumbing and electrical upgrades.

“Our government’s investment in Rogersville Music Inc. demonstrates our commitment to supporting the development of the region’s economy and the cultural vitality of Rogersville and Kent County,” said Miramichi MP Tilly O’Neill Gordon. “Host to the yearly Rogersville Bluegrass Festival, this improved facility will contribute to the economic development of the community by attracting renowned artists and drawing additional visitors to the region.”

O’Neill Gordon attended for Rob Moore, minister of state for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA).

The festival brings more than 3,000 people to Rogersville every year.  The 2014 Festival runs from Friday, Aug. 22 until Sunday, Aug. 24.

“We would like to thank the federal and provincial governments for their support of Rogersville Music Inc.,” said Norman Roy, president of Rogersville Music Inc. “This support means we can make the Rogersville Bluegrass Festival an even better experience for all who attend, including the many visitors that this successful event attracts to the region year after year.”

The provincial government is investing $60,000 in the initiative and the federal government is contributing $112,000, through ACOA’s Business Development Program.  Rogersville Music Inc. is contributing $52,000.
