PERTH-ANDOVER (GNB) – Victoria Glen Manor, a $15.6 million, 60-bed replacement facility, officially opened today at 20 Tepper Ln., Perth-Andover.

“Moving New Brunswick forward means ensuring that seniors get the care they need and have the quality of life they deserve,” said Social Development Minister Cathy Rogers. “This new nursing home will go a long way toward providing an updated and more comfortable facility for all the residents who call this place home.”

The home is energy efficient and was designed to have more space and privacy by minimizing public traffic through residential areas. It is divided into two houses, each with 30 residents, which are connected by a central core with dining and activity areas. Administration and staff areas are also separate in order to create a more home-like environment. All communal spaces have views to the outside with access to outdoor courtyards that can be enjoyed by residents and their families.

“We are all aware that the first choice for seniors is to remain at home for as long as possible,” said Rogers. “When the time comes to make the transition to a nursing home, it is important that seniors have access to facilities such as the Victoria Glen Manor that offer the best possible residential care.”

Construction began in July 2013 and the new building was completed and occupied in June 2015.
