PRINCE GEORGE, B.C (GNB) – Team New Brunswick put in a strong performance on its last day of competition Saturday at the Canada Winter Games in Prince George, B.C.

The foursome of Justine Comeau, Emma Le Blanc, Brigitte Comeau and Keira McLaughlin lost 9-8 to Team Saskatchewan in an extra end in the women’s curling bronze medal game to finish fourth in the standings.

The men’s hockey team lost 3-2 to Team Saskatchewan, finishing eighth in Canada Winter Games play.

In the pool, synchronized swimmer Josée Thomas, of Fredericton, finished seventh in the primary finals while Team New Brunswick teammate Megan McGuigan, of Fredericton, placed sixth in the secondary finals.

Team New Brunswick ends its competition at the 2015 Canada Winter Games with 13 medals: three gold, four silver and six bronze.

In racquet sports, Team New Brunswick completed competition in badminton mixed team with a sixth-place finish and a 12th place standing in men’s squash. The women’s squash team placed ninth in the standings.

The cross-country skiers completed competition on the trails with team relay events. The men’s and women’s cross-country skiers both placed 10th in their respective 4 x 5k relays and 4 x 3.75k.

The judo teams did not fare well in team competition, failing to advance in both the men’s and women’s events.

Team New Brunswick athletes, coaches, managers and mission staff will participate in Sunday’s official closing ceremonies to be held outdoors at the University of Northern British Columbia.
