DORCHESTER (GNB) – On Saturday, July 29, Dorchester will host the fourth of five New Brunswick Day celebrations taking place in communities across the province in recognition of Canada 150.

“We look forward to celebrating all that is great about New Brunswick at the Sandpiper Festival this weekend,” said Premier Brian Gallant. “We encourage all New Brunswickers to take time this summer to explore our province and to come see the majority of the world’s semi-palmated sandpipers right here in Dorchester.”

The Dorchester celebration will start at 10 a.m. with local entertainment. The day also features a ceremony at 1 p.m., a free hotdog barbecue and cake.

“I invite everyone to come celebrate our beautiful region with us during Canada 150,” said Memramcook-Tantramar MLA Bernard LeBlanc. “Our region has so much to offer New Brunswickers, and the many special Canada 150 events and celebrations make it a perfect time to get out and rediscover our province.”

LeBlanc commented for Tourism, Heritage and Culture Minister John Ames.

The official New Brunswick Day will be held on Aug. 7 in Edmundston.

The public is encouraged to visit the Canada 150 NB website, Canada.ca/150 website, use the hashtag #NBProud, and follow @Canada150NB on social media and share why they are proud to be New Brunswickers.
