FREDERICTON (GNB) – From Trust to Expression, an exhibit of 30 pieces of art made by young people in conflict with the law will open with a reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Monday, April 2, at Government House in Fredericton.

Lt.-Gov. Graydon Nicholas will be hosting the exhibit in collaboration with the Department of Public Safety. It will run until May 25.

"We might not think of these young people as artists but art is a viable tool in rehabilitation, and I am delighted to showcase these works at my official residence,” said Nicholas.

The exhibition will feature artworks in a variety of media, from painting and photography to sculpture and fibre art. The showcase is intended to enable the artists, some of whom are from the New Brunswick Youth Centre in Miramichi, to share their stories with the public.

"Encouraging these young people to explore their talents is something about which we feel strongly," said Public Safety Minister and Solicitor General Robert Trevors. "We are proud to have this opportunity to showcase their skills and creativity to the public."
