FREDERICTON (GNB) – Lt.-Gov. Jocelyne Roy Vienneau invites the public to join her and her husband, Ronald, at the annual New Year’s Levee at Government House in Fredericton.

“This historic residence is ‘the peoples’ house’ and the New Year’s Levee is a centuries-old tradition which we gladly continue in 2016,” said Roy Vienneau. “I hope many people will drop by between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 1, to say hello and share in the joys of this season.”

The Lieutenant-Governor’s Levee has been held every Jan. 1 for almost two hundred years, and has become an event for the entire family.

“Government House also looks wonderful during the holidays and we want to share this National and Provincial Historic Site with all New Brunswickers,” said Roy Vienneau.  “We will serve traditional Acadian fricot, sweets and hot cider. There will be music and people can tour the residence.”

A special exhibit on display in the second-floor gallery, called “All Good Gifts”, features items which have been presented to the lieutenant-governor and to Government House over the past year, from furniture and art to crystal and cultural items.

Donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted for the Greener Village Food Bank. Parking is available behind the Victoria Health Centre.
