FREDERICTON (GNB) – Lt.-Gov. Jocelyne Roy Vienneau is asking for patience, resilience and generosity as the province endures record flooding for the second year in a row.

She is requesting that New Brunswickers remain strong and kind during another difficult spring flood.

“This is another stressful time for many, but our province is known for compassion and understanding,” said Roy Vienneau. “I want to thank the many volunteers, first responders and other professionals in all regions who are going above and beyond responding to this year’s flood. But everyone needs to act with more patience, more tolerance and, simply, more kindness, especially to those experiencing the stress and distress associated with floodwaters and subsequent damage.

“Hundreds of people have been displaced. Many more have suffered losses. I ask all New Brunswickers to help your neighbours, to be patient with flood volunteers and in traffic, and to give when and how you can.

“We all need a little support sometimes. The flood of 2019 is one of those times. I ask for your co-operation, your kindness and your thoughtful generosity as our province deals with another natural disaster.”
